Sorry, my own dog killed my 7 year old hen a couple of weeks ago in a freak accident, I am still upset about mine too. It's probably a bit harder when a neighbor's dog does it. Sorry.

I currently have 1 Mille roo, 1 porcelain hen, 1 new Mille hen and 5 chicks(1m/4f).
Mille Roo is only 6 months old and I'm unsure of how old the hens are but I'm curious to hear from you all who know the breed well if my chickens are any good or are they just pretty birds? I'd like to help out local 4H kids but if the Millies are not any good for their SOP then I wouldn't be helping out much by giving them chicks. Should Millie Roo's beard be black or is it the right color? I kow he doesn't have all his tail tip spots yet but I think that comes with age? I know the porcelains feet look bad but her chicks are looking like they have heavy foot feathering.

Love, love, love these no matter how bad they are according to SOP, but of course I think they are all beauty kings and queens.

Congrats on your expanding flock! The Porcelain has a long back and as you mentioned, thin foot feathering. The mille Roo actually looks pretty good. I really like him. Nice U shaped back and correctly colored beard. Black beards are not to SOP. Comb looks decent from the angles. As long as there are no side by side points, as that is a disqualification. I've seen that more on hens than I have roosters. He looks to have pretty consistent spangling. From the angle its hard to see the tail clearly but it almost looks like it splits at the top. Looking directly at the back of the rooster it should be an upside down V. The hens look kind of smutty, not clearly spangled. I would say the Milles are worthy of breeding and working with. I hope this helps!

@dsfrango Thank you for your response. I see what you mean about the porcelain hen, I had not noticed it before but I'll keep a eye on her and see if that is just an off photo.

Mille Roo's photo of the tail doesn't show it properly. It's as you say it should be with a upside down V shape. His comb is one of his outstanding features, at least right now and with luck it will never flop over or anything. It stands straight up proudly with no side by side, it's all in a straight line and pretty even I think other than a few tips at the back which do have a slight bend. I couldn't find a behind picture of him other than one where it looked like the wind had hold of his tail and was pushing it sideways haha.

Thanks for your feedback, you have made me a proud chicken mom since Mille Roo was one of my first hatching eggs.

Hi all, loving the pics lately! Got a few updated shots of my two boys (and one super-sweet girl) just now and thought I'd share. :)

@dsfrango.. Remind me, do you keep porcelains? Would love to add a few porcelain girls to my flock.

No just Milles now. I may get into them if I ever see some good quality ones. Your roosters and hen look really nice. The tail on the 2nd rooster is borderline squirrel tail. That's really the only standout issue beside his little wattles which aren't too bad either.
