D'uccle Thread

Ok, I've been trying to catch up to the end of this thread for 2 days and JUST got here lol. Everyone has such pretty birds!! I really would like to get some of the Mottled or Blue or even the Lav' ...
As far as show quality?.... I'll let the D'Uccle fans of this thread tell me if they think ours are of SQ or not.. I'm thinking seriously about putting these Porc's in the fair next month.... Tell me what you think.. please!!

Now before I get rocks thrown at me,

I purchased this next pair and the owners before had purchased them, but the original owners had debeaked them!! We do not de'beak our birds and have no reason to, but some ppl feel it is a practice and they do. Just to make this super clear!!!
These are our Mille's the roo is not showing near the depth of mahogany that he actually is. I would LOVE to show these 2 but figure they would not qualify based on beaks alone

But just curiously ... are they, would you, can they be... shown??

What ya think??

They are lovely birds and I think your Porcelains are particularly nice, unfortunately your Milli's can not be shown due to the mutilation of their beaks. That is a shame, I'm really sorry, but it doesn't alter their genetic make up.

Thank you, I just love them all, super sweet personalities. The mille's 'outside' of being de'beaked... would you of shown them? I'm keeping them as breeding pairs.. this will be where they spend the rest of their days (hopefully yrs!!). I just adore them and that way I know that they will be loved and cared for and have a good quality life!! We have a v' large run set up for them and almost done (durn weather) I'm hoping to get some eggs soon...been saying soon for a month now tho lol

I have my D'Uccles in a lg. aviary and they get frightened when they see the camera,....they look like the rest of the D'Uccles on here, but 1 of the roosters combs are not in a perfect point for each one...I keep trying to get some pics. but they keep running....what do I do..how do I get the pictures? I really want to show them to you all so you can critique them for me, and I have about 21 young ones that do have a nice comb, but they are only about 10 weeks...some are starting to crow, and they came from the adults that I can't get a picture of...ughhhhhh

Ours go 'insane' over bread!! Try going out and setting with your camera and some bread, throw out pieces of bread all over and just take time with them. Ours are in breeder/ nest pens in the pic's that you see of them. But when I want good pic's I just go and enjoy setting with them and they cannot stand being away lol They are curious lil critters and 'want to know what you have and are doing'. If they start getting treats when you come sit with them the camera becomes obsolete because the bread is SO GOOD!! lol

All too often in this fast paced world, we as humans often forget why we got our critters in the first place. For me, they are therapy, they relax me and make me laugh, they come up and love me w/o any questions or judgments, they are truely a gift from God!! It's so awsome to sit and watch how each of the birds relate to each other, or to look closely at how each feather is so unique to be colored as it is. We have several different breeds of birds, but each bird holds a special place in our hearts, each one has a lil' something about it that strikes a cord deep within ... Have I said I love my birds?? lol I do!!

Did you get your's from Ugly Ducky or did she get hers from you?? You got some from her, right?? We got ours from Ugly Ducky and just LOVE them!!! She's breeds some of the best birds I've ever had the honor of owning!! We did actually get our Mille's from her too but she's not the original owner of them tho' ...
