D'uccle Thread

If they are on wire it pretty much eats their feathers, i found that out the had way. my four live in a large 8x8 show coop with lots of shavings and sky lights, they don't go outside. They also are on a freed ration that i make.

What do you want pictures of the coops or the free flowing waterers?

looking in the window you can see the feeders and we have roosts, you can see there is a divider wall with the bottom 1/2 being solid and the top being chicken wire.

Here are the runs. The end away from the coop is a big door.

Feeders are black abs 3 " pipe with a Y of 1.5 or 2 inch to reduce bill out. at the bottom is a clean out filled with Grit.
Waterer is the black pipe in the run were the free flowing water come in in a 1 1/4" pipe to a 3" with a slot cut into the top about 1" wide by 3" long, and back to a 1 1/4" Pipe, this pipe is from the well overflow and the exess is put into the creek.

Our ducks water is the same only the water flows into a pool and drains back out to the creek.

ETA: Forgot to ask if your transporting any birds back for anyone?? I'm meeting Betsy and Bren I guess for some nice PI & Lav silkies and was just curious if you were transporting any birds back for other people??

Love all the coop ideas and shots from Spook & Doug. I have something similar to this for my 'brooder' set up on older chicks

Windows at both ends to keep the light and provide some Natural heat in the winter.

And the glass is enough for insulation?

They are the older double paned windows that came out ouf the house when I replaced ours last year. They are only about 10 years old the wood framse were rotting out but the glass was goodSo I built new frames. They do not open.

Nice coop set-ups!

Can you post a pic of your pipe feeders?
I think I know what you've done, but I want to be sure. I'm not happy with my feeders and need to modify them.

I agree...I may have a building, BUT!!!...there are so many things I really still kinda need help with, and the pipe feeders I've been interested in for a long time. I also have access to the 'free flowing water' and would love to hear more about how to incorp that, Doug

Mulling an idea for 'hard'n chicks but am not completely certian how/if I should go about it. How many raise them inside/outside? Access to heat/no heat? Just curious and would love to get some more ideas. Grin...back to chores
