D'uccle Thread

Misty,
She is lovely. I wondered about the age. That would be tiny for almost 1 year

They are pretty nice birds, but not perfect by any stretch.

Mrs. Fluffy Puffy :

I have two Porcelian (sp?) D'uccle hens and 1 D'uccle X Jap roo in a hutch together. Can't wait to see what the off-spring will look like. Will try to get a picture up sometime.

Misty, she looks to be blue. She is colored like one of my blue Polish with the lighter on the inside of the feather and darker on the outside. I'd love to see what she looks like when she gets her big girl feathers.

Thanks AC, I've passed over her a billion times thinking she was just a darker baby and would mature as a 'lavender' should. But after seeing Loris crew, it really made me wonder. I'll take more pics today that will (I hope) be a bit better quality. Thanks again, I appreciate the input

I agree. I think your baby is blue.
I also feel like a dolt; I kept the darkest 'lavender' pullet because she was molting and looked crummy when the show was going on in September. Now that she's fully feathered, when compared to the babies, she's looking blue as well.

I'm confused though, because my lav roo over lav hens threw all lavs. If one hen was actually blue, would she still throw lav babes with a lav roo?

And what would a white roo over a blue hen throw? I guess that would be the 'acid test' if there's a difference between what a lav or what a blue would throw....

On a totally unrelated note: I'm going to HAVE to enter the show January 15th. It's a d'Uccle special meet, so I have to enter as many birds as I can.

And I have to read up on rules. Tennessee's son hatched in July. I want to enter him as a cockeral, but since by then he'll be 'last year's bird' I may have to enter him as a cock. I've never had a show so early in the year before....

Yay!!

Lori, I am so glad you are going to enter. I thought it was weird that no one was entering, with the special and everything, but what do I know? I will be there for sure, my son is showing his little Serama. It will be his first show. I had hoped to have something to show for my self...

but I suppose I have to wait. I look forward to seeing you there!!!!

Merry Christmas everyone!!!!!
