They are both very pretty! What are the parents of the blue GN? What are you planning to breed him to? (I know I ask a lot of questions!)

Thanks AC, they are unusual but neat birds. No prob w/questions...I'm betting it was my Lavender Roo, he's my avatar on here. I had a white and several lighter/washed out GN ladies in with him at one point, as well as 2 very light mottles showing way to much white. I have a brother to him who is more lighter, but still an obvious lavender like him

Well, whoever it was, I like them both. I can't wait to get my eggies from you and see what babies I get!

True or false: Given that mottled is technically a solid colored feather with a white spangle (the spot at the tip of the feather), from these recent pictures, it looks like the "goldneck" color is basically the equivalent of a dark buff mottled. Yes?

Yes, that is what it looks like, but technically, it is splash Mille Fleur.

Which means what, in terms of feather color pattern? MF, technically, is a bronze base color, with a black chevron and white spangle. I was under the impression that "splash" means that there are splotches of pigment on the body that result in small areas with different feather colors, but that's not what I'm seeing in the GN pictures. With the exception of the ones that clearly have small patches of grey/black feathers scattered all over.

Thanks for humoring my technical questions.

Well thanks (blushing). I know for a fact it was my Lav roo, just hard to tell on his mom. If I still had the original group I could rotate roos with seperated hens, but all but 1 have been placed. OH, and I forgot this till I was running through my pedigrees/birds, but I also had 2 mille gals in there who were quite old, but still layed once in a while. Who knows what I'm able to breed him with, if anything. What would you put him over if he were yours?

The pullet is in fact a lavender mottled, she's just VERY hard to get good pics of since she's so "light". Now the blue/lav GN roo is just what "Im Calling" him right now...He has obvious GN pattern/traits, but with this strange coloration. He's from a group that produced several true GN's with proper pat, ect. So with that said, I'm up for anyone who could possibly give a proper term, name, coloration ect for this guy. TO ME he appears to be more of a splash MF, but carries the gn pattern so...

Anyone willing to help take a stab and guess at this?

Heres a GN pullet, just got moved inside so she looks rough, but a good compairison.

He is nearly finished growing his first set of feathers, but there's no telling what will happen next year after his first full molt. I didn't capture any shots of his vulture hocks, but they are so long they nearly criss-cross and I am getting ready to trim them.

He seems lighter than some other golden neck roos I have seen, and he has no black or blue on him anywhere. Hackle feathers range from creamy white to straw, saddle feathers "creamy-straw," tail feathers creamy white. I like the all-over mottling he has developed. His back has a very nice shape, and he has that nice Baroque roundness I love with this breed. Leg color is good, not sure of the toe feathering. . . those feathers are still growing. Comments welcome!
