D'uccle Thread

Everyone looks great Lori. Nice pics of the blues too. Is it possible they are not 'laced' but rather more of a 'lemon-blue'? Just a thought.

PartiBoy REALLY looks Lemon to me, he's at that stage now where you can really see the color well in his wings, saddle and hacks. Was he born black also, because my lemons are black based at hatch and dont start showing real good color till about 8-12 wks??

As far as my little Lav/blu GN roo goes, I believe between feathersites and a couple interesting belgian links, he is in fact not a GN at all, but rather what is called "Blue *Buff* Mott", and my hens are buff mottleds to. Same exact patern on all the birds I've seen, and there is a HUGE difference between GN and the buff Mots......so??

Yes, yes...Will get pics of babies today

In the mean time here are pics that show the difference between buff mottled and GN Duccles from Feathersites. I also found out that my one girl I thought to be khaki is a "cream" mottled, so I'm pleased with that.

Cynthia, you got to be half nutz to join this group, but we're sure glad your here!! I've had both breeds and much pref. the Duccles over the Dans, but both are gorgeous breeds.

They could be twins!

Amazing! Yes, he hatched black and developed colors later on. 6-8 weeks sounds about right, because he showed his extra colors early. Others didn't show color until much later, and some still have their color coming in.

Lemon blues. You had to throw that in there. <sigh> Now I have to keep them a bit longer of course. And I was trying SO hard to be both decisive and ruthless. Guess they'll go into PartiBoy's harem. We'll see hw they shape up over another couple of weeks.

BTW, AC, the blues and goldnecks in the early baby pic are your boy's babes. Fertile little fella. The good gn's are probably fro
m the pullet he loved to death. The lighter ones are from the cream hen that was in there. The butterscotch pullet is one I had wanted to keep, but kept Boo-boo instead. I'm glad she lived, and now have a future cockeral for her.

I think not all goldnecks are splash. My babes are an argument for goldneck throwing true. The cream hen was actually Goliath's sister, so it makes sense that they'd throw creamy babies. But the goldnecks are looking really good as goldnecks.

I have other pics but they need to be cropped.
And I can't do that until I research a band and see if I should get DD concert tickets for her birthday

I'm told I'd win awards as a good parent if I get them.....

LM Chicks. I'm certian the darkest one is a roo. I'm pleased that all of them are so heavily featherd on middle toe already. Hope you can see it

Hi Birdlady
welcome-byc.gif

Are you looking for the Mille color or just the Duccle breed in general? There are many colors/patterns in the breed to select from, just depends on what you r looking for.
I'm sure someone can help you out.
