at first i thought she was egg bound, but now i think she has some kind of uppper respritory disease. i gave her a heating pad and water, but i don't know what else to do! she's so sick...

Hi Everyone, sorry I've not been online the last (almost) week. We've all been down with the flue, BUT my darn computer/printer ticked out on me so I was screwed sending everyones eggs out. Lori & Christines eggs were SUPPOSED to have gone out first of week and hubby came home sick w/both boxes, so those were trashed.

In the meantime, I will set some ancient mille eggs and see if they are viable.

I took 6 eggs from my broody last night. I thought they were all from the lav, in with the white roo. But 2 are shaped differently. Could my brain-damaged cream hen be laying? Time will tell....

Tinychicky, what symptoms is your bird showing?
I'd get her off the heating pad. If she's used to being outside, then I'd bring her in, but not give additional heat unless she's acting chilled. And then I'd limit the time spent with the additional heat.

So sorry to hear you having the bugs, man a lot is going around these days. One thing I found when we had 2 teens and my adult brother living here (Years ago) but the 2 guys had Influenza A, terrible thing. We used 2 remote controls for the one tv. With clorox diluted, we would wipe down both remotes, door knobs and refrigerator door. There was 3 of us gals that missed out on that nasty bug!
(speaking for others as well as myself) Glad to see you back !!!

I am now stressing over the impending weather and it's effect on the timely arrival of eggs.
I've been singing my "Go Away Snow" song but it sounds like it's not working

There is a gentleman down in TN that had a flock of self blue D's, if you would like to know more, I can find out. He wanted to ship them to me, and I could not see paying all that money in shipping when I wanted Mille fleurs.
Just keep in mind to talk to the mail man or post office to hold them in a warmer then outside environment and don't ship at the end of the week.

What part of TN does this man live? I may've sold him the blues LOL.
And if so, then they are pre-project birds and I can't take them.

Seems to me, if you ask for special treatment the boxes get banged up even more. I will just
