Cynthia, how are your babies coming along? Any change in color, crest, ect? I'd love to see more pics when you had time. I know the weather plays with time/pics, so no rush, just wanted to check in.

Thanks for asking! I had to drive to Chattanooga today for an emergency dental appt and have been in excruciating pain since last night, until just a bit ago. I couldn't see the babies today, but yesterday, I saw no sign of pink or enlarging combs at all. Now, I know I couldn't have been lucky enough to pick all girls, but so far, no signs of a boy. These are about 3 weeks old now.

X'2, off heating pad for sure. They can cause underlying disease/mold, ect.

she's been in the basement for the past few days (there's a show coming up) so she's used to higher temps- when she is near the heat pad she pants, and when she's away from it, she shivers.

Hey Cynthia, you take care, there is nothing worse then then a tooth ache!

tinychicky, hope all is well with your baby.

Gypsy- I agree with you on those cockerels that Acid_chipmonk and sportsterjeep have! Nice looking silkies too in the back ground. -I don't own silkies, but those are some kind of white!
Oh and its good to see you back with us, hope your feeling much better!

GypsyChic, I didn't know you had had surgery! Hope you are on the mend.

speckledhen, hope you are feeling better too! Toothaches are miserable. Hope the dentist got you all fixed up!

Hope the new year brings health and happiness to all our forum folks!

I have back-read many pages of this thread trying to get a handle on the discussions about d'Uccles . . . and I don't see a definitive answer about the golden neck / buff mottle issue, so I am throwing out this possibility: is the color golden neck only called that in the U.S. - - and Europeans referring to the same color pattern as buff mottled? That's how it appeared to me from reading Feathersite and several European breeder websites.

Thanks for any input!

[Ed. to add - - Ah, I just found the color section of the standard on the d'Uccle Club website. It's tricky to find!]

http://belgianduccle.hypermart.net/goldenneck1.html

I am just posting the link, as it is rather long. Now it appears my boy is lighter in color than the standard, and probably has more spangling than the standard. ??

I am thinking that may be what it is. However, if you look at this site... http://www.edelras.nl/belgians/genetics.htm which is European, there is no mention of buff mottled. I wonder if someone just made up the name because that is what they look like? And here http://www.belgianduccle.org/page8.html There is also no mention of buff mottled in what are accepted varieties. It does say mottled, with no colors listed, though.
