D'uccle Thread

So cute! Worth a trip in the snow

The D'Uccles were flying and playing in there, but I found the Delaware way up on the top roost bar, then she started walking the perimeter top plate. The D'Uccles kept looking up in awe, LOL. This is off topic, but look at this cutie pie daredevil:

Here are pics of the new GN baby. We aren't sure if it is GN though. It has a blue "stripe" running down it's back. So here is the question, what do you get when you have GN over MF? I was under the impression that you got 50% GN and 50% MF, is that right? This baby is definitely not a regular MF.

And here is the 9 day old GN girl

Yes, the first one does look like that, but the second one is what a GN baby looks like. That is why we are so confused. You can't really tell in the pic, but the "stripe" is a light blue on it. The second one in the pics is totally golden all over, no other color.

I'd say you have a butterscotch (older girl, unless the camera washed her out) and a splash form of goldneck. But wait and see. That blue strip may fade to nothing. Or you may end up with a bird that's almost porcelain-looking. Are you sure your mf are 100% mf?

I thought mine were, until I got a bunch of laced project birds instead of all black....

I think d'Uccles genetics may be more complicated than your average bird!

Funny AC, but I kid you not, I had a baby hatch yesterday who looks exactally like that. I'm wondering if it's a 'sex link' trait, possibly??
