Oh Lori, my tummy has been turning for you. Ron has nice stock, I dont know him real WELL, but have visited, asked questions and seen lots of his stock. I wonder if he will show any pure blues or possibly what u-n-me are calling lemon blues?? Yes, please do take pics and PICK Rons brain. Thats awesome hubby's gonna let you get some new stock. I cant wait till out Springfield show and fair. Not sure who judges are yet, but I'm going to take Sterling, WC and what I believe is a silver pullet around 8mos old. I will side line exhibit, but wont show any of them due to color. I want to get as many critiques as possible, then if decent enough, we'll be at the fall shows here in the 4-state area. LUCK, LUCK, LUCK Girl

I have only 4 d'Uccle at present BUT am getting a pair or trio from Lori of her project birds. I have one and adore her....I also have a trio of Porcelains (4 eggs developing in bator now).

Here is a little video of them today along with the Partridge Silkies I acquired from Lori.

GC, I left yesterday so missed a chance to get you some whites

Ronnie had some for sale, too. But I am wayyyyy out of room, as it is.

Ronnie hasn't shown the past couple of years because he's been ill. He's on dialysis 3x a week, so I'm not sure how many shows he'll make it to. This one was 20 minutes from the house. He and his son were very pleased to see how many people were buying d'Uccles, even if there weren't a ton of them in the open show. Probably about 25.

GC, he is working on Silver milles!! He's about 3 years into it. He said they look good the first year, but get too much gold on them after the first molt. He's about 4 generations into them. He's not ready to sell any yet, though. He's about 40-60 minutes from my brother's house, so I'm hopeful I can get together again with him sometimes later in the year and learn more from him. Maybe we can work out the white d'Uccle thing then.

His birds blew mine out of the water, as expected. Except for Tennesseebee. I actually placed higher that Ronnie in the mf cockerals. I was pleased!!! But we were both aggravated because the winning cockeral was too light. Nowadays dottes are in, and win over all other traits, even stellar foot feathers. The standard is actually for fewer, smaller spots, but Ronnie said judges are into splashy birds and dottes are splashy.
The lady who won was quite excited, and we all congratulated her. They were her first millies, her first time showing.

I'll get some pics up later today. (have to go take care of my birds)
I got some pics of the brown-red cockeral, some blues.

I bought a pair of blacks, and a lavender boy. My project boys are now all totally superfluous. Poor babies. I got compliments on the good body type of one, though, from RT (Ronnie's son). He agreed that PartiBoy was not a keeper. Both Ronnie and RT were adamant that type needed to be the priority over color, and that d'Uccles were being bred too big.
(The project boys went to a couple of kids. I think there are cartoon-watching sessions in their future.)

Cetawin, I wish I could get your project trio to you ASAP. I am way over-booked again due to the new birds.

Speaking of which, I need to get outside and do some coop juggling. Also need to take some pics of the newies....

She said it would be at least April. So I've rearranged everyone and really ticked some of them off. I'm going to do soem modifications so that I can keep everyone through May, and keep them warm through the rest of the weekend.

I currently have 2 project roosters left. You'll get my favorite. The other will be re-homed. If you want a trio, then you'll get a trio. I'll need more sapce than ever in May, so that I can let some babes grow out.

There is a project egg pipped in the bator

Can't wait to see what she looks like.

YAY a trio sounds wonderful. Maybe I can talk DH into letting me escape for a trip down there before April. Your lavender boy is gorgeous. I like the looks of that Brown Red from the show. How did your GN do at the show...I think your GN and Butterscoth are beautiful.

Oh did you view the video of your silkies? What do you think about them? The boys are something else....Leo and Bane.

Well maybe one of the silvers will turn out well enough for a project...I'm just worried about their foot feathering. I'm also sorry to hear about Party boy, he's so pretty.

Everyones birds are looking great. Hope all's well...
