D'uccle Thread

Shelley is he a sweet boy and do you have a girl or 2 to go with him? My daughter lost her pair she got from Lori and I am looking for sweet, easy to handle Milles because she carries them around, loves on them, watched TV with them and such

I'm going to do some serious HARD culling between now and the 1st of next month. I'm getting a lot of crappy birds lately so out of 2 project pens most of them will hit the stew pot or be given away at our local swap. Colors are neat, but I just cant stand to look at all the bad birds being produced. AND, it cost the same to maintain a crappy bird as it does a SQ bird. Plus it proves that breeding best x best does NOT always produce 'the best'. I'm hoping someone will take them and spare me the deed of freezer meat.

Dont know if anyone else has received the same PM or not, but there is a 4H'r looking for some nice Porcelain eggs or birds. If any of you have something available that would work well for 4H, please let me know so I can send buyer your direction. Thanks

Gc, I've been a little disappointed in the milles feet as well. But I'll wait a little longer. If one is still pecking toes, then maybe as actual feathers come in they'll start looking better. I do see nubs where fluff should be.

I kno what you mean about culling. Hard decisions, but you have to make them. I pulled some myself, since I brought home new blood. Never easy, but necessary.

Now, here's a riddle for you.

Lav x MF = Black w/ lacing for me. I call thses my project birds.

Project X Project =

She's the first chick to emerge. She's a lovely even yellow, so far. Will get another photo when she's dry.
I was really careful not to let another roo get to the project girls. Only Lucky, the chosen project roo, bred with them. It wil be very interesting if I get all goldnecks from this cross....

I've only got a pic of one right now, I'll have to get one of the other later. This one might be mixed with bantam OEG since she doesn't have much feathering on her feet. The other is mixed with partridge bantam cochin.

Oh, I've also got some that are mille fluer d'uccles/spangled OEGB mix, these look more like mottled d'uccles than anything.

ETA: I've also got one young pair of mottled d'uccles that are the 'babies' from my one mottled hen and the mille fleur roo.
