Funny story here. My D'Uccle cockerel, Beau, is about 11 weeks old now. Today, I had to move my two standard size Brahma hens into the old ladies' coop where he lives with his broody mama, Nugget, and his little women, JoBeth and Lizzie. When he saw Caroline, my Buff Brahma, it was instant WOW! His face and comb turned bright red and he was actually flirting with her! She looks like him, I guess, to his little rooster eyes and I think it was love at first sight. Plus, she's a buxom, mature woman. I swear I could see his heart outline beating out of his chest like in a cartoon, LOL!
He followed her around and when she went up on the roost, he followed her and settled down on the next bar.

I saw your post about splitting a Cackle hatchery order, but you are pretty far location wise from me. I'd just ordered some breeds from Estes Hatchery but have had really good luck finding people who want to buy my extras on Craigslist and my chicks aren't even here yet. I know I'm counting my chicks before they hatch. It will work out really well for all of us who like the breeds I ordered but don't want to brood 25 chicks at once. (And here I have 23 d'uccle eggs in the incubator LOL). If I get any lavender chicks by some genetic fluke I'll let you know!
One of my porcelain d'uccle roosters loves the 'bigger gals'. He was always after my spitzhauben when she was alive, and now he's all about my black hatchery Langshans. I have lovingly named him 'Libido' -- (ok actually my husband named him, but the name fits)
I thought about ordering and then selling the extras, but my husband doesnt want me to do that.
I just wish I could find someone near me,lol. I would even be willing to drive alittle bit to meet.
Thanks

Ideal has a 25$ minimum not a 25 chick minimum. try looking into them? I got 12 d'uccle chicks Thursday from them they just sent me barred rock boys for peanuts.
