But yes, d'Uccles are like any other bird, and feather in their own time and on their own schedule. My favorite millies are the birds that don't get a lot of color early on, but just stay a nice soft brown the first few weeks. They seem to get a tighter pattern later on. But thats my opinion or course

They would love you for giving them places to perch! Especially young ones. I swear they act like canaries when they're young, with all the flying and perching!
My DH didn't want my birds using the overhang for the popdoors as a perch, so he covered them in chicken wire. So now the d'Uccles think it's fun to fly up and perch on the chicken wire. Cracks me up, since they're pooping exactly where he was hoping to keep them off!

Hey guys. I have 6 little d'uccle chicks (3 mille fleur & 3 Porcelain) that are 3 weeks old now. I am impatient to know what gender they are, so I posted their pics in the "What breed/gender" section here https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=490002. (Hope that link worked
) I was hoping some of you d'uccle fans could take a look and give me your guesses as to their gender? I know 3 weeks is a little young, but I am eager to know. I love these little guys! Thanks for any help you can give me.

Well, I am sittting here bawling my eyes out.
I just learned that Ronnie Tallent died earlier this month.
I didn't get to spend much time with him, but he was a dear man and I got awfully attached awfully quickly. And I was really looking forward to seeing him again and learning more about d'Uccles. After 40 years of breeding, he had a LOT of knowledge to share.
RIP Ronnie. I will think of you often.

Thanks for the input. I have one definate roo who has a serious red comb and does that little fight dance often. I also have one with a larger but as of yet non-pink comb that also does the fight dance....so we are suspicious of that one. I'll just wait 2 more weeks before I consider rehoming anyone.
