I have play sand in my runs, shavings in th coop. I also feed a little heavier on protein to help grow the feathers in. I let my birds free-range any time I can be home to watch them. I don't have perfect foot feathers, but they're pretty good!
so more perching things seems to be better? and then definately higher protein THank You!!
They would love you for giving them places to perch! Especially young ones. I swear they act like canaries when they're young, with all the flying and perching!
My DH didn't want my birds using the overhang for the popdoors as a perch, so he covered them in chicken wire. So now the d'Uccles think it's fun to fly up and perch on the chicken wire. Cracks me up, since they're pooping exactly where he was hoping to keep them off!
