Well I got into d'Uccle because of Lori. LOL She came up here last summer and was going to use my garage as a safe space for birds she was traveling with overnight. And to bring me my partridge silkie babies (3), well she also just happened to bring some new MF hatchlings and show them to my daughter (evil Lori) and DD fell in love and had to have them, they turned out to be a pair. And I ended up going down to visit Lori a month or so later and just had to have this black silkie that hatched from her partridge birds...of course when I got there it only had one broodermate and I could not very well leave that one all by itself sooooo I got that one too. That is when the bantam madness started! hahahahaha
 
My Jap just hatched out 3 D'Uccles. They seem to be Mille Fleur as their feathers are coming in and they are a dark buff color.l Heres a pic

I've seen it far too often with exotic parrots, they are VERY sensitive. I had to put down a little red and blue lorikeet when it was born with NO feet. As far as what you're getting in color...............very interesting. The first thought I had was your roo being split, but I would think the breeder would have said something about that. I've been breeding a lavender roo to a lav hen and a blue MF and from the blue MF I'm getting the same percentages that you are getting 2 black chicks to 1 lavender. So far I haven't seen any of these chicks at maturity, they are still too young. One of them does have some kind of bay or mahogany bleeding through on the upper breast just in front of the wing. It makes me think of another bird recent seen on here, it is black with a bay colored breast.
You have lovely chicks no matter what color they are.

Nancy, is the bird with red/mahogany breast the one listed on pg.314, post #3132? Just curious if it was that hen or one of mine?
