D'uccle Thread

I wish I were able to keep all my "interesting" colors, but have decided I'm not going to raise them anymore. I love my bantam Favs, thus, thats where my loyalty lays. I will of course keep my MF, Mottled (lavender & blue) blacks/bluz/splash...after that, all will be available to PET homes.
ET correct my alwayz bad spellling. and a couple colors I missed, go figure

hey everyone, I don't have any d'uccle but I figured that this would be a good place to ask the question that I've been wanting to ask someone for a long time, how do you pronounce d'uccle?

Yeah, it is dew-clay! Or it is usually. There is a bit of a discrepancy because it's Belgian, not French. I do not actually know HOW the Belgians pronounce it, but you have to assume they are the experts.

This means my mf roo does not have a perfect comb. But comb issues are only 1/2 point unless there's a dq level fault, so I'm happy with him.

Oh so Cornelius actually has a better comb! I didn't know if the front and back counted. The front of his comb is not perfect since it has a few small bumps and the back is the same, but it's possible he will look different later and the bumps will smooth out a bit.

Dolly is pretty solid colored, both boys have more black, but all of them are coming out of DINO-PHASE and their neck feathers are starting to get the black spangles, no white at all yet. They are really cute. I need to get pictures.

Good question!

This is what Murray McMurray sent me as mille fleur d'Uccles. Her sister and brothers have a lot of black on them. (See pic below)

I quess I could call them quail, but if they are going to darken everything I breed them with, they should be sold as pets.

Opinions please!!!!!

you first pic of the girl looks like she doesn't have much of a beard. could they have sent you some quail booted bantams instead?

edited to correct the breed! duh! too many similar belgain breeds to look up!
