Thanks... they are my favorite breed.

MaryRuthLangdon, they are beautiful!

There's not a specific # of feathers.

The Standard of Perfection actually doesn't mention them specifically. It says (pages 300 & 301):
"Toes - four in number on each foot, straight; outer toes heavily feathered to their extremities."

Just hatched out our first two D'Uccle chickies.. Here are the two cuties

Here's the Pullet that laid the eggs

And here's the Cockerel

Do you keep some kind of diaper on her...... just curious, she is a beautiful chicken.....

No, I don't keep a diaper on her. That's funny though, she would be a perfect house chicken though! She is so curious and friendly and unfortunately on the bottom of the pecking order, even below 8 week old bantam barnie chicks! It's really sad

What beautiful parents for your chicks! YOu must be thrilled. I just hatched my first 3 d'uccles....have no idea what color they are though.

Thank you. They are my daughters birds but I'm just as thrilled as she is with her newest additions. Congrats on your new three do you have pictures? We have about 4 more in the incubator that will be hatching over the next few weeks. My daughters plan to grow out some of the chicks just to see how they turn out and then start selling them locally.

You should enjoy the chicks and making more of them. Fun project for you and your daughter.....I bought the eggs from a breeder and they were supposed to be from her blue color pens...but one is a beige color...one a blue/lavender color and one is black and white.... I think they are really cute and bright little guys. I'll see about taking some snaps of them tomorrow. They are a little over a week old. I've got more eggs coming this week, and should be blues and black. Very exciting!
