D'uccle Thread

A while back I posted about Ron Tallent's Silver Milles that he's been working on, and also the Buff Columbian d'Uccles that he showed in Newnan. I had photos, but didn't want to post them without permission. Well, he has very generously given me permission to share the photos!

None of these has been admitted into the Standard yet, so they show as AOV (alternate of variety). The silver male got dissed a little for leakage (gold bleed through) but was still a very pretty bird! There are steps that can be taken to get them admitted into the standard, but that will take a while.

I know they have mille fleur in them, which is where the red leakage comes from.
But I don't have the specifics of crossing and crossing back again. I know Ron's dad had been working on them for several generations before he passed away.

I put up some mille fleur eggs for auction if anybody is interested. So far I only have one offer...my rooster won 1st place at the FL State Fair this past month and my flock is pretty good quality if you are looking to add to yours. My birds are the result of 3 years of selective breeding and they are SQ now

. I put in 10 eggs in the incubator 4 days ago and every single one is fertile.

Great Job, getting your d'uccles out there! I will definitely have to think about getting some from you this year after my garage is empty of chicks. I have a few promising recruits, but my milles are currently being selected for personality right now, and looks will be coming later. I have no illusions about my milles being a work in progress.
