D'uccle Thread

They are about 2 1/2 months old...

do they get irridescent feathers?? I know NOTHING of this breed...all I know is I was told by the gender/breed board right after I
got them; they are Bearded D'uccle bantams...

pullets would be good...REALLYY good lol..

Okay, I have one porcelain d'uccle pullet(7 weeks old) and I got two more a few weeks back. They are 3 weeks old today and wouldn't you know it, I can't remember for the life of me what my pullet's comb looked like at this age. haha The shape and look of both of theirs is pretty similar to Waffle's comb so I'm wondering if they are both pullets too. Both their combs are identical in shape, size and color. Here are some pics.

i would worry about the redness that they already have on their combs at such a young age but thats just me

Maybe it's the lighting of the photo because they are very buttery yellow in real life. I honestly was hoping one would be a roo but if there isn't some significant comb growth soon I think they are going to both end up pullets.

I had posted a pic on here a few weeks ago of Waffles when we first got these new babies and someone said they thought she was a roo...she clearly is not.

She took these two babies in along with a RIR and an Australorp as her own when she was only 4 weeks old! She is now the very proud and patient "mommy" of those 4 plus 5 two week old silkies and a polish chick. She just snuggles with them and lets them sleep under her wings.

So, updating my post from a LONG time ago; here are updated pics of my "D'Uccle Bantams" as they were told by the gender/breed board...

do you all agree still? I was also told that #1 is a pullet and #2 looked like a Roo...I know somewhere in these pages upon PAGES of posts about these awesome birds; that there is someone who must have said how to check on if they were pullets/roos...

however; without reading all these pages (almost impossible w/the kiddos), can anyone tell me here?

TIA and I truly do appreciate it...

Those are all pullets IMO...here is a pic of my hen and roo which look to be about the same age as yours.

big diff in comb size and color.

the redness i see is towards the nose on them and thats it, so it might just be the lighting, but over all they appear to both be pullets

Update of my lil d'uccle. It is doing much better. Still squirms when I pick it up, but settles much better. I have some updated pics. I think this little s/he has some amazing feathers on its feet. They are very thick and flared. I just wanted to see what y'all thought, and if you could tell s/he is? Today it is 3 weeks, there is no color in the comb, but I was a little worried about the size of the comb.
