Thank you for sharing your pictures desertdarlene.
They look so cute and healthy.
All the ducklings that hatched in "my" pond made it to six weeks now.
That is great! There are usually two or three that don't make it.
Babies are fun, following mama in a single file.

My name is rachel & Im addicted to DUCKS!!!
I have Romeo, Juliet, & Snow White my snowey calls
Hershy & Ducky (bonded even tho they are both females after ducky lost her male mate) a brown & white Runner & a pekin... They lay in & sit on the same nest together!!!
next spring Im going to order some Rouns (i used to have a pair of them but we had to give them away) & pick up some more pekins from TSC
Im looking to buy a breeding pair or trio of Muscovys...

Last year I decided to breed only ducks & sell all of my chickens excpt for 2 hens & a rooster.

I guess I too transfured my addiction... I was addicted to inhailents. Going on 2 years clean

In the case of the birds there, most of the ones who survived did so by bunching up close to their mom (or close to each other) or their mom pushing them from behind. I think it's a defense against the bass in the lake. If they follow too much in single file behind mom, they fish pick them off. But, by bunching up, they look like a bigger duck and the fish tend to think that they're too big for them to eat.

Check out my slideshow on a family of ducks:

Fish Food Ducklings Grow Up (Extended Version)

You'll see how these ducklings all stuck together (more or less), especially during the first two weeks.

muscovys.... just havnt had the oppertunity to buy any... can hardly waite till I get some

Addiction runs in my family but thankfully this is my first one! We had Muscovies when I was a little kid but eventually sold them. When i got older I started again with "regular ducks" and wasn't all that happy with them. I finally found some muscovy ducklings on CL for $1/ea and went and picked up what they had left and immediately fell in love! they all just adored being held and were SO snuggly, way more than other ducklings. I later picked up a batch of 9 Juveniles for $9/ea from the same lady, this is most of them....
Me and her still talk quite often, do swaps and just BS about muscovies. duck people are just great!

And here's some of our first rescue babies. a lot of them had physical problems and all of them were bald in a lot of places when we got them, they were so cute though and all found good homes later on.

Mr. HatHat was a rescue too.. he walked like a detective and we considered having our Vet surgucally remove some of his crest, but decided against it eventually.

I WANT THAT ONE! ^^^^^^^^^^

He was great but his crest just got awful wet here and made him walk funny. he finally went to a home with a closed in, dry pen. he loved running the yard with the rest but i was worried it would eventually cause him problems hauling around that heavy thing with his neck.

I still want it! id put it in a bunch of beautiful hair clips or hair ties. I want to have his babies. I mean i want to hatch his babies, not litterally have them. lolol

hi, im alanna, and im a duckoholic! i only have 6 ducks though... (a call, a 'scovie,a mutt, and 3 runners)
i used to have a white call, but he got attacked by a stoat so we took him to the vets and they said that the only thing they could do is put him down...
