I would call them breeder quality just from that pic, but I guess I’m a lot less critical. At least to me, they are both snowy with some good qualities, so their offspring could be quite nice.

My momma hen has 3 hatched so far. She is mad at me for blocking her inside the log dog house, but we got snow last night, so I didn’t want them getting out and not able to get back in.

I’m not even sure! She has been sitting since late January! Her first eggs had gotten really cold from our freezes and thaws, but several were developing, so I let her go. None of the original eggs hatched, but when I checked, new eggs had been added and were obviously a couple weeks along, so I figured if she stayed with them, I’d let her. Her nest is back in the back of a dog house, so it’s not easy for me to get inside and check. I’ll grab whatever eggs she leaves and finish incubating any viable ones.

Thats pretty cool. I’ve had a couple of my ducks go broody and it’s true that they always seem to set in weird places, even whenever I give them nesting boxes too.

call ducks were on my radar , but I was worried about the noise! I love them, though!
