I just recently lost one of my two ducks. My mallard (Nibbles) was killed by what we believe to be a hawk or fox. My grey runner (Duckus Khan) is beside himself and I need to get him a new friend. What are the chances that he hurts the new duckling? I know I need to get him a new friend ASAP but I can’t bear to see another animal killed so soon after losing one.

I have a couple 2 month old ducklings and three that are just a week old. I plan to introduce them when the small ducklings are between 4 and 6 weeks old.

If you get a duckling (better to get two), keep them separate from your older duck until the ducklings have some size and strength to them. Doing this with a single duckling may cause it to imprint on you which in turn would cause it to have nothing to do with Duckus.

It wold be better to get an adult duck to befriend Duckus.
