Duck attack

Something attacked one of my full grown Pekins that was outside. Thought for sure it was a raccoon. Found an opossum in their pen this morning so wondering if I’m wrong.
Anyone have a similar issue? BTW She survived and I am caring for her.

Opossums can kill ground birds.
How did it get in?

All guesses. Could be the snow is very high so the fences are easy to climb. Could be the doors to the pen aren’t as tight as they could be. Could be a network of tunnels. Looking at making a lot of changes.

Welcome to BYC! Sometimes mother nature deals us a bad hand with the weather. Believe me when I say, I know. The snow is halfway up our fences.

So sorry for the injury of your duck. I hope full recovery for her. I had an opossum attack a flock of young chickens kept coming back until it killed them all. Tore the fencing off the coop and pried open the pop door.
