Okay thanks. No, no oozing or smell. Guess I just associate yellow color with infection. Plus I have no idea what a wound like this is supposed to look like. Sounds good, the worms have been working without fail and sometimes crumble, she definitely drinks a lot.

Honestly, I think that looks pretty darn good. I know chickens bruises are green. Perhaps ducks are as well.

She might be depressed, too, at having lost a flockmate. And that must have been traumatic. Those can both lead to decreased appetite. You can give vitamins and electrolytes, if you are worried about nutrition and dehydration.

Poor baby! You are doing so well by her. It looks like it's healing quite well. Just keep her inside until it's fully healed. You don't want dirt or flies getting in there. Or curious flockmates.

Yes, I feel so bad for her and that she had to witness that happen to her flockmate who, making it even worse, was also her mother. Thank you, I appreciate it. I am also amazed at the progression when comparing day 1 to 1 week, etc. I will keep her inside, I'll have to try some vitamins/electrolytes. She only has one flockmate now, who is currently staying in the chicken coop (she was actually spared from the attack due to being broody there). I just hope she doesn't fight with her too much once it comes time for reintroducing. Likely will have to start small and keep them in separate sleeping areas for a while.

Yes, especially on that first day and discovering the both of them. Made me physically ill to even look at her wound at first. Technically three names but related to each other, Daisy Duck/Daisy/Ducky, usually say one of the latter two when talking to her.

I bet. I gasped when I saw that first pic. I can't even imagine.

You two will have a special bond after this. Every time I have to nurse a bird, they end up being very attached to me/trusting. It's kind I'd a silver lining. And you will be better equipped to deal with ickiness in the future, too.

Yes, that is true. She is more friendly to me than she was. But she is also more sassy too lol, mostly when I'm applying stuff to her head or when I stick my hand in her cage. She'll nibble or peck at me with her beak and make little angry squeaks. I guess maybe because she views her cage as her "coop" now, and she's probably much more sensitive now to things invading that space. Plus I'm sure she doesn't like me messing with her wound, which I'm sure hurts when I touch it. Mainly though I think it's the former, because when I take her downstairs for a bath, and I apply stuff to her head afterwards, she doesn't really have as much of a reaction

She's doing pretty good, she's been eating crumbles now and so she has normal poops too. Before they were more liquidy. In the pics below you can see more pink skin around the edges of the wound, so I'd saying it's healing pretty nicely

Here she had a red spot where part of the scab fell off I believe

She had a puncture wound on her neck and it looks pink now, with a little scab.
