Ambassador Weyoun steps forward to initiate peace talks, Impa says "whoooaaaaa there"

Peace talks commence, and Wednesday joins in. The virtues of peas and shredded cabbage are discussed as a common point of interest.

Banshee seems to be very interested in the babies (positively or negatively, I can't say) and Ezri is so concerned with her posture she nearly falls over backwards.

Even when the rest of the flock wanders off, Banshee stays by the baby enclosure. Gwaine can't seem to decide which group to stay with, so she runs back and forth.

Both of the boys seem pretty intent on pik-poking at the babies' beans, and the babies pik-poke right back, but Azula doesn't like it when the hens try to do it. He puts his head across their shoulders and pushes them away when they try, which is very unusual for him.

Zuko was also unusually bossy, putting his head over everyone's shoulders (I assume that's a dominance gesture in ducks, since it is for most other group animals) but he also started grabbing at everyone else's neck feathers after a while! He only got one feather off of Wednesday, but he was definitely getting a decent grip and holding on every time, even once with Azula. I may not be an expert in duck behavior, but I am in dog behavior, and that kind of redirected aggression is usually a sign of frustration over not being able to reach something exciting. I didn't want him to keep getting upset with everyone else because he couldn't get to the babies, so we called it a day after that. Everyone got koi pellets first so we could end on a positive note.

All in all, I think the addition of the babies has gotten everyone a little overly concerned with the pecking order, but there weren't any real outbursts or fights, so I'm tempted to call it a success? What do you a think?

Looks like it went pretty well. I wouldn't get overly excited yet and put them all together yet,But your off to a good start. They are all so pretty.

Oh no, definitely not! Especially with Zuko getting so amped up over them. I don't think he would be aggressive with them, but even if he was just being bossy and excited, he's a big enough guy that he could probably hurt one of them on accident. Plus, I just don't know for sure what his and Azula's intentions are with all the bean-pecking (or why the babies peck their beans back? or why the boys don't want the girls doing any bean-pecking to the babies?). I'll probably wait until they're more ignoring each other to let them mingle, rather than when everything is new and exciting.

Good plan eventually they will be old news lol

We did a meet and greet without the gate today!!! There was a little bit of chest bumping, posturing/charging, and that head-over-shoulder business they do, but no pecking.

Banshee warmed up to them pretty quickly, after a little bit of herding them around.

Azula (the black drake) and Wednesday (blue hen; she either is or really wants to be Azula's main squeeze) did most of the dominance behavior that happened today. I like this picture because Impa and Ezri are zipping all over the place like silly little emus!

I remain cautiously optimistic that this will work out! I'm still not going to leave them together unsupervised yet, but I think it'll work out okay when I do.

Aw, they look all grow up now. Glad it seems to be working out for everyone!

They are so beautiful! I love how many colors Indian Runners come in, the upright stance, and the great egg production. I'm curious on what everybody else's favorite color of Indian Runner is?

I like the blue (but then I like anything blue bird-wise)!

What about you Birdrain92?

I like the Fawn & Whites. Probably because that's the color I have, they're the original variety and they are easy to sex at young age. I've been kind of wanting rather Blacks or Blues. I like both of those colors too but Fawn & White are my top favorites.
