Their feet are kind of tan in color. Should I wait to get more ducklings till I know the gender? Would break my heart to rehome due to having an unbalanced gender flock. Thanks for the reply!Hmm, I think I’m leaning Welsh Halrequin for these two. What do their feet look like?
For sexing, voice comes in first. Girls will make a peep-honk sound at a few weeks old, developing into a full, loud quack by 6-8 weeks. Boys will have a raspy peep for a while, not getting their adult rasp until around 10-12 weeks.
I know Harlequins are somewhat auto-sexing, too, so you may be able to tell by plumage in a few weeks.
It might be worth it to wait, yes. With 4 total, you’d only want 1 male at most. When you do get more, I’d opt for getting sexed ducklings from a hatchery. You could also look for someone rehoming adult ducks.Their feet are kind of tan in color. Should I wait to get more ducklings till I know the gender?
