Pretty much all domesticated ducks cannot fly.
My welsh flap like crazy but only get MABE 18" off the ground.

My cayuga is about the same. Sometimes when I let him out of the coop he will fly down the hill in the backyard to get to his pool. It’s pretty cute! Of course my pekin would flap like crazy and never get anywhere

Heavy does not equal leg problems, it just seems to be a pekin thing. There are two types of rouens. Exhibition and production. Production birds are smaller (but not small) with a normal duck shape. Exhibitions are like bowling balls with feathers!

Thank you! That kind of opens my option a Rouen a little bit more. Around here they are easier to find than other breeds.

Well I checked my local feed stores and surprisingly none of them had ducks or even chickens in yet. So I went ahead and ordered me a couple of welsh harlequins from metzer farms. They are supposed to ship out Monday. I’m super worried that they won’t make it here alive. I’ve read there have been a lot of shipping delays. Please send some good vibes my way and I will try to update when I get them!

Well my ducks are supposed to ship out today and I am super nervous about it! I’ve got my set up almost ready for them, I’m just hoping they make it here safe!

I’m already super nervous. When I track them it says they should be here Thursday. I’m afraid they won’t survive that long since they shipped out last night.

Well after just 30 hours in transit, they are finally here! They seem very healthy and we are super excited. I’ve never been so happy to hear peeping when I went to the post office!

Oh this makes me so happy!!! I'm getting REALLY anxious for my duckling order from Metzer to arrive -- I've heard a bunch of horror stories recently of whole batches of ducklings from there DOA at the post office. I've been looking forward to getting my ducks for close to a year now & all of these stories are freaking me out so much that I seriously started considering just cancelling the order because I know that getting a box full of dead ducklings would just be completely devastating. So seeing happy stories like yours gives me so much hope that my own girls will be able to make the trip no problem & I'll have happy, healthy ducks too

Hopefully your babies come in safe and sound! I was so anxious the entire time. I was worried mine would be DOA coming all the way from California to TN.
