Duck breeding

Drakes can be aggressive mates, duck sex isn't pretty, so with only one hen, he takes it out on her. It doesn't mean they are satanic! Just hormonal!

How long has she been off the eggs? Candle them for development and pop them in your incubator!
I don't know, but she was off when I went out there.
What I'm worried about, (and this is me thinking like a duck whose an abused wife)
is that she wants ducklings so bad she's taking non-fertile eggs and trying to hatch 'em. She's like "I NEED MORE BABIES!!! I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!".

If she only has 5 eggs, she may still be building her nest. They usually will lay 10-12 eggs before committing to sitting full time. They partially warm them throughout the days until they get the number of eggs they want. Then they sit full time.

Yes. I just walked out there right now and her eggs are cold.
IS THIS THE END OF THE WORLD?! IS SHE NOT BROODY ANYMORE?!
And winter isn't the right time to hatch because drakes lose their fertile organ.
My drakes still have their penises. :idunno

Another option is to find more adult hens. But I would stick with the same breed, since your Pekin drake is likely larger than most hens would be.
Oh, you mean not incubate? Just buy adult ducks? See, there, I'm worried that the new birds would be left out. Also, if I incubate ducks and give them to Donald, will my drake eat them? I mean, I have talked daily about the names we're going to name them to my drake and he agrees on the names.. At least I think.:lau

Okay. But should I just take them and put them in the incubator ? I'm worried that they're not fertile and I'm just wasting eggs.

More adult hens now would give him more mates so he wouldn't be so rough on the one. But if you want to wait it out, you could also maybe separate the drake at times during the day, to give her a break. But if she goes back to the eggs, she will be getting her own time-out. (sometimes that's why I think hens go broody! lol)

Drakes can be unpredictable with babies. They have to be introduced slowly. Some do well, some not.

Whereabouts are you located? Winter is not ideal for hatching, but if he is that active with her, chances are good that they are fertile. If you put them in the incubator, you will know within a week if they are fertile by candling.
