Duck broken foot and does not eat

And think that, If after all your efforts the duck still dies, you will have start learning a valuable skill and will be much more prepared for saving the life of your next pets.

To start you will need to study this to understand how the leg bones are arranged in ducks and then try to find what part is damaged in this scheme

Edit: The hip, ok. No need to put a resine splint then. Is the fracture external or internal? If there is not an open wound put the duck in water right now, so the water and not the foot will support their weight.

I think that all this current painphobia and "pain must be avoided at any cost" BS is basically a religious movement leading to lots of philosophical dead-ends and rampant nonsense. Losing a foot is better than losing the life and both a duck and any mentally sane human would choose the first outcome all of the times.

We have different points of view and this is good, but give me a grumpy doctor telling harsh things instead a smiling gravedigger

I'm sorry! I was faced with the same decision 2 weeks ago. My dog fractured his femur and it wasn't repairable. I had to make the decision that was best for him, which was to end his suffering and pain. As difficult as it was for me to do, I felt I had to do it for him. I know how hard it is to have an animal that is in pain, but you don't want to let them go. My heart goes out to you. :hugs
Thanks
