The side toe looks like bumble forming or right after it has been removed... is that a toe you’ve done surgery on?As of this morning here is her spot. I sent an email to the VET for their thoughts. Possibly move her to a different antibiotic or just keep observing her.
Yes. We did it several weeks ago. Didn’t her anything out of this one.The side toe looks like bumble forming or right after it has been removed... is that a toe you’ve done surgery on?
I’ve seen a few cases on here that did surgery and didn’t get anything but then weeks later another scab formed (some didn’t have scab the first time) and it went a lot smoother with just being able to soak and pull scab off with kernel. I’d let it keep forming into what it needs to and do the soaks or salve or both to draw it to surface.Yes. We did it several weeks ago. Didn’t her anything out of this one.
Does your duck play dead while you work on it???The vet called us back - and called in a different antibiotic that we will start today. She said to go ahead and pull the scab, dig around...then wrap it up and apply LOCAL HONEY to the spot instead of ointment. She also said to use a tea with the Epsom salt treatment. So, will wrangle her back up today - make a new spot to keep her out of the pool and mud while she has a bandage on and do the scab pull...honey for a few days, and when it scabs back over will start letting her back in the yard without the wrap. All while getting her new meds.
She’s pretty well behaved during the process so far. But I’ve seen she is getting wise to the tall two legged beasts that both feed her and make her sit still during meds and Bumblefoot digging.Does your duck play dead while you work on it???
