Any ideas about turning one of these XX-Large dog houses into an outdoor duck coop? I use one as an Indoor house for them right now and was wondering what upgrades it would need to be put outside. Any ideas??

How many ducks and how long will they be in it? If you are talking about one or two small ducks and only at night, then maybe. It depends how cold it gets by you. They need to be out of the wind and rain or snow. If it isn’t too cold, wrapping all but the door in a plastic tarp, filling the cage with pine shavings and straw, and placing it in a sheltered location might work. I think there are better alternatives though.

3 Pekins, They'll only be using it to go into at night or for shelter when its too hot

I think it is too small then unless the door stays open at all times.
I think the picture makes it look smaller than it actually is, this is them in there last night and they’re almost 2 months old. They sleep in there inside

I upcycled a chickens playhouse, it would give them lots more room and you can make it more secure. A dog crate isn't really big enough for 3 pekins. Pekins are a large duck breed. I'm not sure how you would go about securing it and weatherproofing it for outdoors.

We took a kit and used our scraps and made it larger. Also put insulatung boards underneath on outside and, put left over linoleum on top of the wood floor. We have two pekins going in this coop, which is inside a 8x12 enclosure wrapped in 1/4 jnch hardware cloth on all sides inckuding over the top - burried 18 inches deep along edges to prevent armadillo and coyotes from digging under. Also. a pool liner, qoi pond or rubber livestock waterer can be burried into the ground. We put a hole in it and ran a pvc drain from the pool out to a pasture about 49 feet away. This allows us to easily drain the pool out, and wash it out then we added a close off handle ww turm to
close off the drain so we can refill the pool. Andddd hubby ended up running anothrt pvc pipe from the well over top of the pool like a shower so we don't have to stand there with the hose.
