Hi there - we just added a beautiful cayuga hen to our flock (we already had one pekin and one mallard). We got her from a family and don't know how old she is, but she seems to be full grown but likely less than a year old. My male pekin takes his "guard duck" job very seriously so we are slowly introducing the new duck, and they are just starting to harmoniously (but cautiously) hang out together. As she's spending more time walking around our yard, I notice that when she's on the concrete she seems to drag the front of her feet ("toes") when she takes steps. I'm just noticing this now and am hoping it's nothing serious as she doesn't seem to be hurt or limping , it's just this funny little toe drag. Seems to happen less on the grass and more on the concrete and may be happening because she's walking slow / low and cautiously as she gets to know her new surroundings and just not picking her legs up all the way.

I will keep monitoring but figured if someone else out there has a duck that does this and just walks a little funny, it would make me feel more at ease. :) Always nerve-wracking when you notice something new / off.

Thanks!

Hopefully this video that i just took works! There are other times where she doesn't drag her feet, it seems to happen when she's walking cautiously / slowly. I'm going to try to catch her tonight to get a good look at her feet

Examining her would be a good idea. Make sure to check for any signs of swelling, discoloration, warm spots, lesions, and make sure each toe, and joint bend properly.
