Duck eggs at a farmers market?

well they bought them for that much from a hatchery. And sold them for $5.

In that case it sounds like a great opportunity for both parties.

Duckgirl, You should be fine selling your nest run eggs from your house, but if you want to sell "off-farm" at a market or roadside stand a permit is required for all vendors selling eggs in Tennessee. Cartons must be labeled the name and contact information of the grower.

It's similar in Maryland, I only need a permit if I want to sell at farmers markets or roadside stands. The permit was free, I just went to the Maryland Department of Agriculture website and filled it out. They sent me a pretty little certificate a few weeks later with a permit number that I put on all my cartons.

ETA: I sell my duck and chicken eggs for $3/doz. I might get away with selling the duck eggs for $5 if I went to a fancier farm market but even then you have to deal with people who never would've considered eating a duck egg (you can eat duck egg?? LOL!) So I sell them for the same price and tell people they won't notice a difference in flavor between my chicken and my duck eggs - they're so much tastier than the grocery store! I also sell 6-packs of duck eggs for $2 each (because I have to buy 6-egg cartons and there's more packaging involved) so that folks can try them without committing to buying an entire dozen. I always sell out of those on market day.

Baby fowl are very popular here as well however I'd say 75 % of the ducks bought in spring end up on the river here.

Yep, $3 a duckling is a fair price to sell to a feedstore for resale. And small numbers like a dozen at the time to work well to and I bet they'd be wanting another dozen soon, since duckings do sell really quick in the spring months.
