So out of my 15 Cayuga eggs, half had to be thrown out since they were shipped about 10+ days into development. :/ I haven't had much hope for the others, but since I'm a noob, I candled them Day 4 to see if there was anything at all... Not seeing anything really, granted the eggs are a tad dark, but the yolk is visible... Nothing else really, whatcha think? Keep em in the bator for a bit still?

Thank you for taking a looksy!

Ok ..first why would you get eggs that were 10+ days into development already? That is just wrong in so many ways for a breeder to ship them or sell them to you like that..sorry....unless youbworded it wrong???.and day 4 is way to early to candle duck eggs...day 7-10 you should see very clear viens. Keep them and wait it out....

Yeah, I'm very well aware of that, and I'm not quite sure why someone wouldn't check before sending, but it could've been an honest mistake and I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, we're human. She did offer replacements.

After googling, I've seen a lot of candled duck eggs that are not similar in development to these and some that have videos with a little movement. Just hoping for the best and some guidance as to their current state.

"about 10+ days into development"

They are still in the 'bator.

The only reason they were candled when she sent them to me was because there was a foul odor from the incubator... that's when I discovered they weren't fresh and had started incubation before they were sent. =/

I dont mean to be a negative nelly..but Ive never made that mistake..ever...any good breeder collects their eggs daily if not a few times to prevent that..Im sorry it happened to you...id either get a full refund or a super fresh batch of lots of eggs....

Thanks ladies, she said she would ship some replacements once she fulfilled her current orders. Marcy, yes, they were shipped from a lady on BYC. Just clinging to some sort of hope that not all my eggs are dead.
