I forgot to give an update but they were both okay! Back to normal, I think it was just some nasty slugs, thanks everyone for the help

You know I almost asked you if you thought maybe they'd been eating slugs. But the yellow color threw me off and I second-guessed it... I will bet you that is exactly what it was.. slug juice

My 5 week old pekin duckling Charlie, did this a few weeks ago and again a few days ago. It's slug slime. I watched him to see what he was eating. And after a few yellow colored slugs..... That yellow gunky slime was hanging out of his mouth and he kept shaking his head to get it out. He's fine. Drank a fair amount of water and it eventually went away.

Now I'm cracking up laughing thinking about the poor soul trying to wipe the slug slime out of the ducks mouths.

I was gonna say, the only slugs we have around here are brown or grey and they only get up to about 2 inches long. I can't imagine what kind of monster slug they had have eaten to make such a nasty mess lol.. it was so gross trying to get it out of their mouths it was like a huge booger

We have both kinds here lol I didn't know the first time. So yes, I was the poor soul trying to get slime off Charlie's bill! He's a house duck.

The yellow ones aren't big. They only get about two inches long. But they produce this sticky yellow slime as a defense. It will glue a small animal or bird's mouth closed for a short time. Teaches them not to eat them. But.... Charlie doesn't seem to mind. He eats them greedily anyways.

I can just imagine! I had a duckling choking on a slug once and had to pull it out.
