Duck Garden Ideas?

Theres lots of plants duck REALLY like, but those are honestly the ones you probably want to avoid, or plant minimally. Any leafy greens they will demolish and eat immediately. You could plant some at the far end of the garden, but it will be gone pretty fast.
I think herbs are a good idea. I've never fed herbs to my ducks, but I know Rosemary, Oregano, Spearmint, Parsley, Basil, and Thyme are all really good for them. Oregano is an immune booster, Spearmint is full of antioxidants, Rosemary has anti-inflammatory properties and supposed to be a pain reliever. Dandelion greens are also full of antioxidants, great for the liver, help detox any toxins they pick up, and super beneficial to dogs, people, and other animals. That might be a good one to plant. You can read up on it more, but I think theres a lot of herbs that would be beneficial to them that you could plant.
Plus, duck like herbs but they don't kill them in moments.
You'll also want to think about putting up a barrier fence until they're full gown to, if you haven't though about that already.
Good luck with your garden! I love the idea, I think the ducks will to. :D

Interesting to read. Our two ducks freerange a lot in the garden. Many plants mentioned (all herbs, beet and chard) do not gain weight at all. The only thing they walk straight to is the kale. We have a part full of lilacs and they do indeed like to hide in there.
They like dandelion and various grasses.

They also like to eat tomatoes, but they also try to eat the plant and the green tomatoes. Since it belongs to the nightshades, it can be poisonous, so I wouldn't plant them somewhere unsupervised.

Maybe our ducks are a bit atypical, they are probably a pekin/muscovy cross, maybe that makes a difference. Also, they are still young (8 months) so they may not have discovered everything.

I’ll have to get a new rosemary plant for our ducks. I have one already, but it is my pride and joy. I have a notorious black thumb, so my husband typically cares for the plants. The rosemary is one of only two survivors (out of at least thirty) of my version of “plant care.” There’s no way I’m letting the ducks anywhere near it, after seeing what they did to my husband’s blueberry bushes last summer. They’re absolute terrorists. We’re hoping by giving them their own garden to destroy that we’ll be able to distract them from the plants we’d like to keep around for a while.

How many ducks do you have? One duck can destroy seventy-five square feet of garden in no time.

Ducks are terrible gardeners. You would have to fence it off and not allow access until a plant or section is mature and ready for duck harvest.

You would get more duck food and save time by keeping it fenced and cutting stuff for the ducks to eat in their pen.
