Duck hasn't walked in months

Well...day three of baytril and Motrin. No Change to foot/leg yet. Has been sitting in homemade sling which causes fluid to pool in foot and leg from hanging. Ugh

I put him in the pond twice a day and soak in Epsom salt twice a day. No vet will take the time.

I wouldn't keep him in the sling if it is causing problems also. Maybe do rotation of pool sling and then just on the ground. I wish there was more I could say but 3 days isn't that long so hopefully there is still a chance of improvement.

Yes this is soooo frustrating

I know it is but you want to do all you can for him and since this has been going on for months according to your thread title. Your going to have to be patient. Saying this it's always up to the OP if they want to continue to try and help and usually our ducks let us know when it's time to quit trying.

Months of not walking means slower recovery if there is going to be one. Do you do any type of massage after he has his pool time? Or even while he is soaking in warm water Epsom salt maybe do some gentle leg movements to help the muscles.

When he is in the sling do his feet touch the floor? if not maybe some adjustment so that they do that way he can stand on his leg and move some what.

I walk him 10-20 steps by physically moving his feet forward twice a day trying to have him bare weight and apply linament to swollen leg as well

I am giving him just under 1 cc of baytril twice a day along with motrin. Do u think I'm giving enough?
