Duck Having seizures...daughters therapy pet...please help

We are headed to the vet now. He is going to give us a few sets of tubing and show us how to tube feed and see about cutting his meds back. Thank-you for the help and we will keep you updated!

Kathy, I had a question. When you tube feed how do you mix the food, or what do you feed he duck? Is there anything you recommend beside his own food?

What size tuber did the vet give you? Something like Kaytee Exact Baby Brd Food works in all size tubes, but with something like crumbles, you need to soak them in warm water and use a stick blender to get it smooth enought to pass through size 18-22 tubes. No blending needed if you have a size 30, but most vets don't have those, so I'll assume your tube is in the 16-22 range.

the only size he had was 3.3 mm X 16" . Its a rubber one with two holes at the end. We put the food and water in my ninja and blended it and so far it has worked. We mixed the dextrose and the mineral oil per the doctors instructions as well. He looked a but more perkier this morning. Just fed him again and going to keep this up every 4 hours the next day or so. Thank you so much for all your advice and patience. Hope this works. I will keep you posted. :) ( last night he didn't fight the tube. This morning he was being more like his normal self and not wanting his head messed with so that is a good sign :) Plus he stood up and used his foot to "itch" and waited for me to give him his probiotic and electrolytes.

Look who got outside and walked for three minutes and is eating on his own!!!

Still going to tube feed some the next night or two until he eats good on his own. Oh and guess what? So far NO seizures today. Doc wants him on low dose of the seizure meds for a few more weeks, and hopefully that will allow cured. Thank you so much for telling me about the tube feeding. I had been telling my daughter that I felt like if he could just get some nutrients in him beside the electrolytes he would probably feel better. So thank you all for the advice

That is great.... I have been following, I am so happy he is doing better! :celebrate
