The area you have questioned Lacrystol is where the outer membrane has gone and inner is just loose there. yes it is pure coconut oil and should not be an issue and the wet cloth is around the shell not on the open area. I am pretty sure the little bubba has died though. temp is at 38 and humidity 74. not movement to be seen though

. will give her till tomorow and see what happens overnight. Thanks for all the input will keep you posted.

Well Me personally I wouldn't use any wet cloths, I would be raising my humidity and I would avoid putting anything on an Unborn embryo since its still in the processes of developing and can and will probably absorb what it can until it's completed..

But that's just my preference and input..

Awee sorry it hear that there was other options and things we could have done to help the process go a little faster but without knowing exactly it's due date to determine how many days left, chances aren't good in the first place,,

I knew it was a long shot and was hoping it was closer to hatching than not. (Air incubator too not still to answer your other question) I had all the wet cloth and oil etc because otherwise the membrane just drys and shrinkwraps the chick. Have found the oil to be good for that reason in the past.

Sadly this wee baby was just too young to cope with the trauma of having a crushed shell. How far along do you think she would have been?
Can't win them all. Any hints on how to keep the chooks out of the nest?

A www still had a least another day. Dang it.. I bet if you got the head out cleared his nostrils and around his mouth put him in a cup he might have had a really good chance of survival. And as far as drying up and shrink wrapping, this can be avoided as long as he's wet down every two hours to finish the job..,

Wet cloths in my opinion loses heat, gets cold and slows down the process..
