I also believe they are some sort of mallard or rouen crossed with a muscovy. I don't have any experience with scovies, but it seems to match the profile. If they are hybrid (it would be hybrid, right?), too bad they can't breed!

With the dark heads, they all looked like males to me, but I didn't notice any drake feather. Skovie boys don't get a tail curl, do they?

There is a hen in the group there. Someone saw them breeding when they were roaming up and down the road.
If they are sterile will the still produce eggs though. I just could not let them roam free and get hit by a car. So I had to catch them. I wish they weren't sterile and would breed true. I am not into crossing things to make new breeds but they are the most striking ducks I have ever seen.

Of the 'scovy crosses I have had over the years the best laying hen I had of them only laid a few eggs a week in her "season" of laying. Also I would note that 'breeding' behavior does not necessarily mean that you have a female. Muscovy drakes are know for a high drive & will attempt to cross with other species if given an opportunity. In the absence of females the lowest in their social structure could be the target of such behavior.

Wow stunning! I would say you have 3 males and definitely Muscovy crosses...... only female hinnies lay (if the hybrid had a Muscovy mother) if it had a Muscovy father they are called moulards and apparently the females don't lay.

2Muscovy's and 1 mule which is a Muscovy mix. I had to of the mixes some years back they are pretty cool ducks too, and those Muscovy's are beautiful Looks like male and female unless the one with the less carnucles is younger.
