Greetings.
We bought 8 ducks about a month ago. Although our aim was to buy muscovy/muscovy mix and cayuga, the person who was catching them said that at the age they were in the yard, he couldn't tell if the little yellows we were getting were muscovy or peking. We ended up with 6 yellows and 2 blacks (hopefully cayuga).
So, now that they have grown up some and are getting big, we want to see if we can figure out just what we have.
This is Cupcake. Based on observation, we hoped this was a she, but am now leaning towards a he. Extremely sweet. Quite. Loves to eat from our hands.
This is Sunshine. I love her feathers! She is a good hand feeder as well and loves to run even though she doesn't seem to be built for it.
This is Confetti, and Cupcakes best buddy. They are inseparable. Also extremely sweet and gentle and loves to eat from our hands.
From Left to right: Diana, Duckter J, Margaret. We think Margaret is a boy, due to how much bigger it is than the others of its hatching and coloring. Lucky is not pictured, but looks like a replica of Diana and Margaret. Duckter J loves to run. S/he tends to stand tall and is the lookout for everyone else, as its head is above everyone else's.
This is Mordecai on the left and the same shot of Sunshine from above. We think Mordecai is a boy, based on behavior in the pool. He can't seem to share well with others...
So there is our little raft of ducks. Hopefully, someone can shed some light on what we have here.
