Duck injury question

Do keep her fairly warm - above 50F - if she is even mildly in shock she cannot regulate her own body temperature. At least this time of year in NY you don't have to worry about flies laying eggs in the wounds.

Keep watch, do be sure the pen and coop are secured because Miss Lydia is right, predators will come back till their job is done and all are dead.

Also the cut doesn't seem deep but all the blood dried up on it so it's hard to tell

Yes let her rest tonight and glad she is more stable since you brought her inside, tomorrow take some nice warm salty water and rinse out the face wound real good so you an see how deep it is or maybe try the bath again. Let me know how she is please.

Thanks for the responses! I re did the whole run today so its gonna be a lot harder for anything to get in if it even can. Usually I would set some traps but a lot of my neighbors let their cats outside and I don't want to deal with that. I'll let her take a nice long bath tomorrow because shes very skittish I dont want to stress her out. I'll probably have to clean it anyways to find out but I'll give her a chance. Is there anything else I should keep an eye out for?

When I went in the garage to check on her and I felt cold I knew it was to cold for her. Now I have her in a nice quiet room and have the heat turned up to 65, she stopped shaking I hope we make some progress tomorrow I feel terrible she has to go through this

Lets hope today will be a better day for her. and you. Let me know how she is doing when you get time. Eating and drinking are both good signs.

We turned the light on for her this morning, she was very calm and relaxed. We gave her some fresh water and she was drinking it so thats a good sign. We gave her some fresh watermelon too, but we'll check back in a little while to see if she eats it I don't think she likes to be watched while she eats. At around 2pm today she will be getting a nice warm bath and I'll let her stay in it for a long time it might bring her some joy!

A nice ambiance to the room will be good just soft lighting and her food and water and fresh water melon sounds like a nice set up. If she can dunk her head in her water she'll clean her nares out and then with bath time hopefully if any blood is clogged in there that will take care of it. Let us know once she get in the warm bath how her face looks hopefully the warm water will soften any thing dried so you can see how deep the cut is. Hows her neck looking?

She has a deep bowl for her water I'm pretty sure she could dunk her face in it. Her neck looks horrible with no feathers but there's no blood coming out and seems to have just minor cuts. Hopefully this bath will give us more of a clearer view.

Alright I filled the tub higher this time so she can swim and she is loving it! She's moving around and cleaning herself. Her cuts don't look deep but I'll get a much closer look when I take her out and put some neosporin on it. I got the original brand without the pain killer in it.

That's a relief glad to hear her wounds don't look bad. And she is enjoying her bath. Keep up the good work with her. and keep updating on how she is doing.
