Duck Isn't Doing Very Well

I’m glad your big guy seems to be doing better. What kind of stores do you have around you? A Walmart?Would your parents be ok with buying a bottle of vitamin b complex at Walmart? I believe it costs around $4.

It needs to be the liquid. This will get his legs nice and strong. The reason he’s having a hard time is the feed doesn’t have enough vitamin B3 (niacin) in it. And it’s more of a problem in Pekins than other breeds because of their large size. Once you get it, we can help you give it to him. It’s really easy.

If your parents can’t get this for you. Let us know and we can try to come up with another plan that hopefully you and your parents can be ok with. Don’t give up you are doing great. We can get him whole again!
I think we're going to Walmart today and I'll even pay for it myself. If we are I'll break off from my mother and run over there and grab a bottle. Which section of the store could I find this? The pharmacy area or the pet? Thank you!

I think that feed is fine for him since he really needs somw good old fashion feed right now. When BYC gets the bugs worked out post a pic of the ingredients and nutrient content.

I am glad to hear he is acting like he feels better.
So I got the picture of the ingredients and it looks like it's the Layrena kind. Also the tag was on the bottom of the bag which is a pretty odd place to put something like, I think.

Have you opened the bag because your drake doesn’t need to be eating layena if you have opened you can mix with another feed I use layer and chick starter mixed half an half so my boys don’t get so much calcium

Unfortunately I've opened it. And I don't think I can get my parents to buy another bag of feed. It won't hurt him will it?

I got the complex. I'll await your instructions.

Well you'll just have to feed it too him then probably one bag wont hurt but I wouldn't keep him on it for the rest of his life. If you have Reg oatmeal you can mix that into it to cut the calcium but we don't want to cause you trouble with your parents so just do what you can at least they bought feed.

We do have regular oatmeal! I'll be sure to try to get a different feed next time though.

Just stay away from anything that says layer on it. that is for birds that are laying eggs.

The B Complex is 1 ml or 1 teaspoon per day. you can mix it in something yummy he likes so he gets full dose.
Actually Miss Lydia this is the more dilute one than we normally use. So you will want to give this guy 3 or 4 dropper fulls a day. Put it on a treat he likes.

I’m sure the feed will be fine for awhile. Even though it has more calcium than he should. You are doing such a good job taking care of your duck. It shows you are very mature for your age. Great job!
