This is my first time hatching eggs and these are duck eggs. I had a broody hen on the eggs for about 28 days. One hatched but was dead on the other side of the coop so we moved the eggs inside out garage away from the flock. We don't own an incubator and we don't have time to get one at the moment. There are 4 eggs with external pips and one of them has made a complete hole. That duckling was very vocal but now isn't making any noises or moving. I'm really concerned there isn't enough humidity and I don't know if I should help it out or not. I had a wet towel covering the eggs like a tent with a heat lamp.

you could carefully break away the egg where the duckling would usually chip at and when the top is off pull the head out of the egg but let it get out by itself. i have saved 1 chicken and 2 ducklings by doing this

Ok that duck didn't make it. 2 others have completely made holes but also now not chirping. They are able to stick their beak through but now they aren't moving or anything. I have no clue what is happening.

I had the same thing happen with the 2 ducks I saved, it's probably best to do what I said earlier to these eggs if you need more specific instructions let me know.

sorry about the loss

34 minutes to assist hatch 5 eggs and post, wow. I hope they all do fine..

I understand why you had moved them (since you found one duckling dead), but if I’m reading this correctly you removed them from your broody duck and just had them wrapped in a towel? Are you planning to set up a brooder now and raise them yourself? Are you planning to put them back under your broody?

Duck eggs take a long time to hatch in general after pip.

Best of luck
