Duck laying on peafowl eggs

Very extremely unfortunately, little Ava did not make it through the night. Now poor Mordecai is all alone. I am not sure what do do, the only thing I can think is to go to the pet store and get a chicken chick to keep Mordecai company. I have no idea where I could find another peachick.

I’m so sorry :hugs Only problem I see is Mordecai not picking on a chick younger than him. You’d Have to let them get use to each other slowly.
I could get a chick that is currently a little bit bigger than him, but he will outgrow the chick very quickly that is my concern. Maybe if I could manage to find a Brahma chick or something then their size difference wouldn't be so bad. I left a message on a couple Florida peafowl farms, but their websites say they only sell adult birds so I am hoping they will make an exception based on the situation. Mordecai is just crying so loudly I think I might just have to get whatever chick is available at my local store, and then maybe just switch to a peachick later if I am able to get one and rehome the other chick.

It's hard because where I live I never could have kept the peafowl in the first place, and I will still need to find a home for little mordecai.

I know nothing of chickens, any chance you know which one of these chicken breeds is the biggest? @Miss Lydia

Awesome just remember your going to still have to intro very slowly.
@SolarDuck if your not going t be able to keep them in the long run why not see if they will take Mordecai?
I did ask but they will not as the peacocks they have are purple peacocks, and they didn't want to risk exposure to their birds from a bird that came from a feral.
