Tuesday is day 25 so the start of lockdown. I'm incubating pekin/indian runner eggs. I just have a question or two.

Is 37.8 (100.04) okay for lockdown and for hatching? Or is that too high? Does it need to be changed at lockdown or left alone. 100.04 too high for babies? Google has different answers so IDK.

Should I add a piece of wet sponge in there in case my water compartment runs dry? I ask because I know you can't open the lid during lockdown. Or would that be too much extra water? Would it raise the humidity too much?

Thanks again. This is my first incubation. So excited for the ducks.

Is your incubator a still air or a forced air? For forced air, the normal incubation temp is 37.5, and can remain the same all through lockdown too.

Do you know what the humidity is in there? You want it to be around 70% for lockdown. If you need to add a sponge to get it that high, you can certainly do so.

And if your water dries out during lockdown, you can definitely open the lid to refill. Opening quickly and refilling the water if necessary won't hurt anything.

It is a forced air. I'm reading so many contridicting things on google, like 97.0 or 98.0 for lockdown so I didn't know. The humidity is 69 right now.
So 37.5 will be fine? Don't want the ducks to overheat when they hatch. Thank you so much.

Yes 37.5 is good and warm for ur ducklings and is also will keep them warm while they are hatching out of there egg! Goodluck with ur ducklings :)

This thread is a few months old. Those either hatched or didn't by now. I see you are new, so you may want to check dates on posts. :D
