Duck losing feathers & not laying eggs.

Usually twice a year. They will have one light molt that you will barley notice, the big one they will loose all those flight feathers at once. . it's crazy! Don't feel alone, the first time I saw that happen I was a bit worried too. it's startling to see them all come out at once. They typically won't lay eggs during a molt either so no worries. It's totally normal.

She’s in molt it can be alarming when you have one go through for the first time. But she’ll have a big molt yearly where she’ll lose her flight feather along with others then other times of the year she’ll have some mini molts, She sure is pretty.

Thank goodness they don’t lose all their feathers at once like some chickens just about do I can’t imagine a duck running around naked like I’ve seen some of my hens.

That's what everyone says. Lol, thanks... I know, i love her. She's even prettier when she has her black patches. I'm so glad y'all are out there. An hour ago I'm thinkin I need help. After all this little ducks been through, I'd hate it if she was sick. Now will this happen with the drakes as well?

Ouch!! Molt pictures even look like they hurt!

What do you feed your ducks? During molt you can treat them with a little bit higher protein feed and treats! Hopefully she will be back to normal soon!!

Yes I agree. That would look funky.. I've seen pictures of those little chickens running around with just little patches of feathers here & there.
