We don't have many otters here in Northwest Arkansas, so I was wondering, are they fair game? I know coons, skunks, 'possums, coyotes and such are "kill 'em as you see 'em" (well not LITERALLY but you know) is there any laws stopping someone from taking one down in that situation? Like if a hawk has one of your birds, there's not much you can do because they are protected, but what about otters? Just curios is all

Update*** The ducks survived and it was not an otter, but a 5# mink. Caught it using a trap baited with fresh chicken.

if you haven't already I would rebait the trap and keep it set for the next month...for safety

Otter will eat ducks? I don't mean to sound insensitive. I'm really sorry about your ducks. I would be very sad if that happened to one of my birds. I can't believe an otter would go after a duck. *floored*

Otters prefer fish, but a mink will eat ducks. A 5 pound mink should give you a nice mink collar for your winter coat.
