Duck nesting

Mine *mostly* lay on the floor in the back corners of their house. Then I made it so the roof/wall panel on the side hinges open (second photo) so that I can collect eggs without going into the run and without ducks being able to escape.

I'm not there yet myself but @WannaBeHillBilly has some very good nesting images from a recent broody.

Ducks prefer secluded corners to lay their eggs - at least mine do. My duck-house has two bedrooms and so far i have managed to install three rough boxes in one room of which the most secluded one was chosen by my Duck Katharina to hatch out her ducklings:

The other corners of the bedrooms are also occupied with shared nests:

Love the idea with the dog-crates @chickens really if i can find some on craigslist i will give them a try.

It's always in the corners... my girls will build nests in the corners of the run too. Right now their favorite outside run corner is the one that also has a wind block, so the most secluded.
