Hello,

I am new here and saw this thread about backyard ducks.
Does anyone know if it’s legal to have ducks as pets in Bradenton, Florida? Or if you have to get any permits? I am hoping to get 2 Indian runners and 2 Peking ducks. No drakes.
I would like to eventually get the limited license permit for poultry and eggs, so that I can sell their eggs at allowed locations, but before any of that I wanted to know if I am allowed the ducks.
I’m having some trouble finding any single answer to the question online.

Thank you so much!

Thank you so much Lydia. I did see that you could get the permit and it would be free. I’m hoping our property will be allowed ducks because I can’t wait to get them! I’ll try find more info on the website!

I will do! I’m extremely excited about it, and I’m so glad I found this group.
We have land that is fully fenced so I’m hoping when they’re not in their coop for the evenings they can be free range and happy. Let me know if you have any tips or coop recommendations!! I’ll be a first time duck Mom

First step would be to talk to whoever is in charge of your zoning laws ... City or county ... do they permit "fowl"? If so, what are the limitations?

You may also have some "CC&R's" (Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions) placed on your property title/deed ... check them out.
