Duck Questions

So now I have some questions about predators. First off, we have Hawks, raccoons, and feral cats in our area. What should I do to protect my ducks from all of these things?

Also, I'm thinking of joining 4h and showing my ducks once I get them. I don't know, but people might bid on my ducks to take them. So if I end up with less ducks from when I started, will they be ok if I add more from ducklings?

Hello....Full grown Ducks are a bit mean to Ducklings when they are still in the peeping stage...Separate pens are best...Look but no touch....Sounds like your really going to have fun with the Ducks...Best wishes....

I really am! Eventually once the new ducks are bigger, can they be raised together? I hear Cayuga are pretty inviting.

Yes....Once they meet. They usually have no real problems...Just when they still peep big Ducks don't like them...

My boys are mean to the ducklings. So I keep them separate until about 5 weeks old. That way they can get out of the grouchy older ones way if needed.

I plan on letting my boys enter our ducks into 4H this year.

Thanks for the help everyone! My remaining questions are these. 1. Should I worry about getting the ducks a vet from the start or should I save the vet for emergencies? 2. Of the Hawks, raccoons, and feral cats, what should I do to protect my ducks from these predators? Thanks!
